Purple best

We enjoyed the best-ever jacaranda cruising and viewing season on Sydney Harbour last spring. More than 1200 people joined us on a Captain Cook ferry to look at Sydney’s brilliant jacarandas from the water. Kirribilli, the Lane Cove river and especially Hunters Hill and Woolwich looked sensational and showed just how much this Bolivian native loves Sydney’s temperate climate. Graham’s detailed history of the harbour, an exploration of its secret nooks and crannies and that dreamy purple veil made for a great day out. Linda Ross♦

Stormy Stonefields

After hours of torrential spring rain, Paul Bangay’s amazing Stonefields, in Central Victoria, was sodden, but stunning. One of the peacocks looked a bit unhappy with the weather but we thought wet feet was a small price to pay for a close look at an incredible garden. Robin Powell♦

Blown away

We were blown away by the drive through vast areas of flowering coastal heathland – and almost literally blown at the truly remarkable Remarkable Rocks!  The strong wind coming off the Southern Ocean really added to the drama of the landscape. We were early enough to beat the crowds and have this amazing part of Kangaroo Island to ourselves. Libby Cameron♦

Fascinated!

It never too early for a glass of bubbles when you’re wearing a fascinator and a yellow rose! That was the philosophy we lived by when we traveled to Melbourne for a behind-the-scenes and on-the-track look at Melbourne at Cup-time. Carolyn Dwyer♦

Pure NZ

At our first garden, on the first day of our tour of New Zealand, we were awe-struck by the vision and energy of Jill Simpson at Fisherman’s Bay garden. On a site in full, glorious view of the wild coastline of Banks Peninsula, Jill is using NZ natives with exotics in ways never tried before. Inspiring stuff. Michael McCoy♦
